Step 2: Add a base layer of clay pebbles

Adding a base layer of clay pebbles is essential to ensure proper drainage and keep your plants healthy. This layer prevents water from pooling at the bottom of the pot, reducing the risk of root rot.

To set up:

  • Add a layer of clay pebbles equal to approximately 10% of the pot’s height.

  • Spread the pebbles evenly to fully cover the base.

Note: Ecopots with water reservoirs, such as the Venice2, do not require clay pebbles as the reservoir system already manages excess water.
